Wildwood has changed faster than almost any town we work in. The stretch between the Turnpike interchange and CR 466A that used to be pasture is now street after street of new homes, and nearly every one of those backyards closes as bare dirt and a survey ribbon. Enclosing them is steady work for us: we set the line inside your pins, call in underground utility locates before the auger touches the ground, and hang gates where you actually walk and park rather than where the plan happened to show them.

The other half of Wildwood hasn't changed at all. West and south of town it's still Sumter County acreage — cattle, hay, equipment yards and long straight fence lines that need to stay straight. Those jobs get sighted with string and a laser instead of eyeballed, corners and braces get set in concrete, and gates get sized for the tractor and trailer that actually use them.

Either kind of job runs out of our Ocala yard, and Wildwood is a short trip down 301 or the Turnpike. That matters after the install as much as before it — if a gate needs adjusting a season later, coming back out isn't a scheduling favor.

Vinyl privacy is the most requested fence in the new Wildwood subdivisions. Six-foot tongue-and-groove panels give the backyard full privacy, they don't need painting or staining, and they hold up to Florida humidity without warping the way an untreated wood fence eventually does.

Wood privacy — board-on-board or shadowbox in pressure-treated pine — is the traditional choice and still the one many homeowners prefer for the look. We use ground-contact-rated posts, concrete-set every one, and build with the framework facing your yard unless you tell us otherwise.

Aluminum is what goes in on corner lots, preserve lots and anywhere an HOA wants sightlines kept open. It racks to follow grade instead of stair-stepping, it doesn't rust, and it's what we install for pool barriers so the self-closing, self-latching gate passes inspection the first time.

Chain link remains the practical answer for dog runs, side yards, storage areas and commercial lots, in galvanized or black vinyl-coated. Farm and ranch fencing — field fence, no-climb wire, three and four-rail in wood or vinyl — covers the acreage side of Wildwood, with farm gates from eight to twenty feet hung to swing true.

Repair work is its own category here. Storm-leaned posts, sagging gates, rotted bottom rails and sections a tree came down on all get fixed rather than replaced when the rest of the run is still sound, and we'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.

Linear footage is the biggest factor, but it's rarely the only one. Material and height come next — vinyl, wood, aluminum, chain link and ranch fence all price differently, and a six-foot run costs more than a four-foot one in every material.

Gates move the number more than people expect. Every gate needs oversized posts, heavier hardware and squared, braced construction, so a plan with three gates prices differently than the same footage with one.

Site conditions matter in Wildwood specifically. A cleared new-construction lot is quick. A pasture line with brush, stumps and old wire to pull out is not, and clearing is quoted as its own line item so you can see it. Fresh fill, buried irrigation and unmarked conduit on new lots all add care and time to the dig.

Then there's tear-out and haul-away of an existing fence, and permit or HOA submittal work where it applies. We quote all of it itemized rather than as one lump number, so you can see exactly what drives the price and adjust the plan if you want to.
